HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall Volleyball fell in straight sets to Georgia Southern in Sun Belt Conference volleyball action on Friday night at Cam Henderson Center.

Georgia Southern earned the win by scores of 25-22, 25-19, 25-18.

"We're building and growing and we're doing all the right things, but we've got to perform and we just didn't perform," Marshall Volleyball coach Ari Aganus said. "We are so thankful for (our fans) the past two nights because the crowd has been amazing. It's been everything we could've hoped for and we hope everyone keeps coming back. It's going to get there and it's going to click!"

Sarah Wadsworth led Marshall (9-8, 0-4 SBC) with eight kills and 11 digs while Olivia Fogo finished the day with a team-high 15 digs.

For the second straight day, the two sides went back and forth early with neither being able to pull away after a tightly-contested opening set.

Marshall knotted the set at 22-all following a block by Marae Reilly, but the Eagles were able to counter with a pair of kills and a key block to earn the first set win.

The Herd had a solid hitting percentage of .229 with 14 kills and just three hitting errors while Fogo had 10 of her 15 digs in the first set.

Georgia Southern used that momentum from its first-set win to jump out quickly in the second set. The Herd rallied back within 23-19, but the Eagles were able to close it out for the two-set advantage before closing out the match in the third set.

Marshall returns to action at home next Friday when the Herd hosts James Madison at 6 p.m. at Cam Henderson Center.

"We are so excited to be home for a while and to just keep building on what we've got for sure," Aganus said.
