Marshall Softball Signs Five Players to 2025 Class

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall University Softball Head Coach Morgan Zerkle announced the addition of five signees to the incoming signing class of 2025.
"This class has some great additions of speed and power with a strong desire to represent the Herd," Coach Zerkle said. "They will serve Marshall University, our softball program and the community well."
Zerkle announced the signings of Summer Horn, Rylan Miller, Addison Stieneker, Makayla Taylor, and Sydney Turner.
Summer Horn
Parker, Colo.
Legend High School
Outfield Util. - B/T: R/R
Summer Horn is a right-handed outfielder from Colorado, the third such player from the state to play for Marshall. The 6'0" speedy outfielder was named First Team All-Conference in 2024. She was a member of the Legend High School State 5A Championship team in 2021.
Rylan Miller
Cameron, N.C.
Freedom Christian Academy
P/Infield Util., B/T: R/R
Rylan Miller is a right-handed pitcher and infielder from Freedom Christian Academy in North Carolina. The two-way player won gold with Team USA Blue in the 2021 International Challenge, following it up with a silver a year later. In the circle, she finished last season first in her local division - the NCISAA - in strikeouts with 171.
Addison Stieneker
Flat Rock, Ind.
Shelbyville Sr. High School
Infield Util., B/T: R/R
Addison Stieneker is a corner infielder from Flat Rock Indiana. She plays high school ball for Shelbyville Senior High School while playing club for the Elite Indy Dreams 18U team. She is a career .416 hitter with 117 hits, 105 RBI, and 15 home runs.
Makayla Taylor
Stafford, Va.
Colonial Forge High School
Outfield Util., B/T: R/R
Makayla Taylor is a speedy right-handed utility player from Stafford, Virginia. Taylor has a clocked home-to-first time of 2.6 seconds. In addition to playing with Colonial Forge High School, Taylor has excelled with her club team, VA Stars Colangelo U18.
Sydney Turner
Huntington, W.Va.
Spring Valley High School
Util., B/T: L/R
Sydney Tuner is another speedy utility player from Spring Valley High School in the Huntington-area. Turner is a three-time All-State player with the Timberwolves. Sydney's mother, Laura (McLaurin) Turner played for the Marshall softball program from 1994-96.
