HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Men's Basketball team (3-1) concluded a four-game homestand with an 82-63 win over the Bellarmine Knights (0-4) Saturday night in the Cam Henderson Center.

"I thought we came out and played really well in the second half," Herd Men's Basketball Head Coach Corny Jackson said after the win. "I'm glad we turned it on in the second half. We came out and played Marshall basketball, or the way we want to play."

Nate Martin and Jalen Speer tallied 23 and 20 points in the win. Martin added nine rebounds to his stat line on a 9-for-11 shooting night as Speer made seven of his 13 shots including 5-for-11 from downtown. Obinna Anochili-Killen followed with 15 points nine boards as Dezayne Mingo dished out eight assists with no turnovers.

The Herd used a thunderous second half to down the Knights. Heading into halftime the game was knotted 34-34. However, Marshall opened the first 3:20 of the second half with an 11-0 run with four points from Martin and a three by Speer to go with a pair of points each from Mingo and Anochili-Killen.

Then Speer jolted off a quick 6-0 burst from the 14-minute mark to 13:29 to give MU a 59-44 advantage after a triple with an and-one. Marshall stifled Bellarmine's offense don the stretch allowing just four points in the final 6:28 with no makes from the field.

A Kai Spears make at the 2:43 mark gave The Herd it's first 20-point lead of the contest, 80-60, with Speer's fifth final make from behind the arc with 89 seconds left giving the team its largest lead of the contest with the final score of 83-62.

In the final 20 minutes of play MU shot 56.7 percent (17-for-30) from the field, including 41.7 percent (5-for-12) on three-point attempts while holding BU to just 36.4 percent (8-for-22) from the field.

Both Martin and Speer tallied 15 points in the second half
