Women’s Basketball Begins SBC Title Defense Sunday Against Texas State

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall's women's basketball team (5-6) begins its quest for back-to-back Sun Belt Conference titles Sunday hosting Texas State (6-4). Tip from the Cam Henderson Center is at 1 p.m.

Sunday's game is a "Black Out." Fans are encouraged to wear black to match the Herd's on-court uniforms and are to pick up a black rally towel upon entering the Henderson Center from the various marketing tables.

Coach Juli Fulks
- On Apr. 12, 2024, Coach Juli Fulks became the ninth head coach in the history of the Herd.
- Fulks - the 2024 WBCA DIII Coach of the Year - joins Marshall with 400 career victories in 20 seasons, winning the 2023 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball National Championship.
PRE-GAME NOTES
- Marshall went 17-1 in SBC play last season, winning the regular season and tournament championship. It was the Herd's first title and NCAA Tournament appearance since the 1996-97 season.
- The Herd enters league play third out of 14 in total offense (71.8 PPG) and ninth in total defense (66.7 PPG).
- Aislynn Hayes leads all scorers in the league with 17.4 PPG entering Sunday. Meredith Maier is tops in 3-pointers per game (3.3).
- Marshall and Texas State met for the first time two seasons ago in Huntington in the Herd's first season in the SBC. The Bobcats won in Huntington before MU came away victorious in San Marcos last February, 85-59.

ABOUT TEXAS STATE
- Texas State is 6-4 this season with a 4-1 road record. 14-year veteran head coach Zenarae Antione is the winningest head coach in program history.
- Senior forward Jaylin Foster is the team leader in points per game (10.0) and rebounds per contest (5.6).
- The Bobcats are prolific in scoring points in the paint, outscoring teams 358-290 inside.
