Marshall Women Return to Action Wednesday Morning Against Louisiana

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Sun Belt Conference-leading Marshall women's basketball team (16-6, 10-1 SBC) looks to respond against the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns (9-11, 5-6 SBC) following its first loss in league play.

Tip from the Cam Henderson Center will be a special 11 a.m. time for Education Day. Marshall will also be celebrating National Girls and Women in Sports Day Wednesday.

PRE-GAME NOTES

The Herd maintains a one-game lead in the conference standings on Troy with four weeks remaining in the regular season. Marshall is one of two teams in the league who will have the coming weekend idle due to the SBC vs. MAC Challenge.
The last meeting between Marshall and Louisiana came in the 1984-85 season. The Herd defeated then-named University of Southwestern Louisiana, 80-74 in the only meeting between the two programs. The Cajuns are the only opponent the Herd has yet to face in SBC women's basketball play.
Coach Kim Caldwell's teams are 6-1 following a loss tracking back to the start of the 2021-22 season. Caldwell met with the media Monday, which can be viewed HERE.

ABOUT LOUISIANA

Louisiana is 9-11 overall and 5-6 in league play. UL has won three of its last four games.
Preseason All-SBC Second Team member Lanay Wheaton was the lone preseason member on the team picked 6th, The junior transfer from ODU is averaging 4.5 PPG.
The Cajuns are led by Brandi Williams with 11.5 per game.
