Marshall Tennis Completes Weekend Sweep with Victory over Louisiana

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Tennis (15-6, 6-1 Sun Belt) completed a weekend sweep with a 4-0 win over the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns (5-8, 2-5 Sun Belt) on Saturday in Huntington. The win extended MU's winning streak to six matches.

"It was tough conditions today, so you have to make sure you're staying positive and using our home courts that we're used to and using it your advantage. Sometimes we did and sometimes we didn't," Herd Tennis head coach John Mercer said after the match. "Overall, it was a good win and we'll see if we can keep it going next weekend."

The Herd took the doubles point for the sixth straight match. The pairing of Gabrielle Clairotte and Doroteja Joksovic made quick work on court three with a 6-1 win as Johanna Strom and Emma Vanderheyden followed with a 6-3 triumph on court one to seal the point.

Sophia Hurrion and Aisling McGrane were up 5-4 as their match went unfinished on court two.

Joksovic carried her momentum into singles, not dropping a game on court in a 6-0, 6-0, win on court three.

Then on court one, Strom took her match in dominating fashion with a 6-0, 6-2, victory.

Despite trailing 3-0 in the first set, Vanderheyden rallied to take the opening frame with six consecutive games and followed with a 7-6 win in set two to seal the match for the Green and White.
