Herd softball earns two Central All-Region Team honors
NFCA All-Region Teams
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Marshall redshirt-sophomore Brooklyn Ulrich became the 26th player in program history to earn First Team All-Region honors after being named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Central All-Region First Team, which was announced on Saturday.
Ulrich, alongside sophomore teammate Bella Gerlach, were Marshall's two players honored as NFCA All-Region honorees for the Central Region, which spans from Texas and Oklahoma to Virginia and the Carolinas while including top-tier programs such as the nationally top-ranked Texas, as well as Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.
Gerlach was named to the Third Team All-Central Region. Both players were recognized earlier this month by being named All-Sun Belt Conference.
Ulrich finished the 2024 season as a First Team All-SBC member, hitting .451 in league play with 37 hits and 11 doubles in those games. Her 11 home runs and 30 RBI were second-best among all players in conference games only. She was the 16th MUSB player all-time to finish the regular season hitting over .400. Ulrich also marked her place in program history by becoming the second player all-time to hit multiple grand slams in the same season.
Gerlach, who co-led the conference with 48 RBI alongside Ulrich, was named to the SBC Second Team. The sophomore transfer earned All-Region accolades after starting only 15 games as a freshman. Her 15 home runs this season stand alone as 8th-most in team history in a single season.
