Herd XC’s program opens 2024 season at home
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – For the second consecutive season, the Marshall University cross country team will host the Thundering Herd XC Invitational at the Kennedy Center YMCA Complex.
The 2024 edition will be the Herd's season opener on Friday, Aug. 30 and will be a 5K course for both the men and women. The women's race is at 5:30 p.m. with the men's race to follow at 6:15. The awards presentation closes the evening at 7.
"This will be the second year we host our annual cross country invitational," head coach Caleb Bowen said. "Last year was so much fun but also a huge learning opportunity for me as a meet director and coach. With another year under our belt, I believe we are going to host a great meet for our teams."

"The course is exactly what you want. It's flat. It's fast. And it's all grass so it's forgiving on the athletes. Hands down one of the best courses we'll run on all year."

"This meet is a great opportunity for our younger athletes to get their feet wet with college competition. It's not a huge field but still competitive so it allows them to compete at their best. It's going to be a fun start to a great year!"
