Kelsheimer earns sixth Diver of the Week, Luniushina fourth Swimmer of the Week honors

NEW ORLEANS – Marshall University Swimming and Diving senior diver Grace Kelsheimer and freshman swimmer Kseniia Luniushina combined to sweep the Sun Belt Weekly awards on Thursday, as announced by the league office. Kelsheimer earned her sixth SBC Diver of the Week honor with Luniushina notching her fourth swimmer of the week award.

Kelsheimer had another big weekend on the boards with three first-place finishes in four events. The senior swept the boards in a win at Toledo winning on 1m with a score of 273.83 and the 3m with a score of 275.63.

In a win at Bowling Green, Kelsheimer came out victorious in 1m with a score of 275.93 and second place on 3m boards finishing with a score of 272.55.

Luniushina won six events over the course of the weekend and helped three relays win across Friday and Saturday. Against Toledo, the freshman led off the Medley Relay in a time of 25.52 helping Marshall win the event in 1:44.39. Luniushina swam the 200 Freestyle following the relay, placing 3rd with a time of 1:54.88. Later in the meet she won 200 Backstroke in a time of 2:03.42, ranking 5th with her in-season time. She also anchored the 200 Freestyle Relay with a split of 23.56.

Saturday Luniushina led off the Medley Relay with a time of 26.05, helping win the event with an in-season best of 1:43.78. Her next event, she won the 100 Backstroke with a 55.21, which would rank 3rd in SBC. Less than 10 minutes later, she won the 50 Free with a time of 24.31. The Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, native's final individual event was the 200 Backstroke, winning in a time of 2:01.41, also ranking 3rd in the SBC.
