HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Thundering Herd women's basketball team lost Thursday evening at the league-leaders JMU by a 71-59 scoreline.
CC Mays led Marshall (5-10, 0-4 SBC) with 19 points. MU was limited to 35 percent shooting by JMU (12-4, 4-0 SBC) - a team second in the conference allowing 58.3 PPG in league play.
The Herd came alive in the final frame, outscoring JMU, 26-15.
"I give our team a lot of credit, we battled in the 4th [quarter]," Head Coach Juli Fulks said. "Every week after the last game we figure out what we want to be better at and today we wanted to be better at keeping [JMU] off the boards. We won the offensive rebounding battle so that piece was good. We did not shoot it really well in the 1st and so that was harder because we had a lot of great looks."
"We've got to figure out how we can be consistent over the course of the game. Obviously that is hard but I thought we did a really good job on the shooters in the first half, we had them covered and we have to figure out how to sustain those efforts."

Marshall finished with 12 offensive rebounds compared to JMU's 10. MU trailed by six at the break before the 28-11 third quarter outburst by the Dukes.
Aislynn Hayes scored 11 points to complement Mays and the Herd. Junior TreShondra Williams scored 10 points, her first double digit performance of the season.
The Herd closes its season-long road trip at Old Dominion in Norfolk on Saturday at 2 p.m.
