HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Volleyball team (10-10, 2-5 SBC) returned to the Cam Henderson Center with a sweep (25-15, 25-11, 25-20) over ULM on Thursday.

"Overall, I'm proud of getting a quality team win. It's special when it's on a day with a bigger purpose. You play harder and better when you do it behind a passion and purpose," Herd Volleyball Head Coach Heather Stout said about the team's win on its Cancer Awareness Day.

Logan Henderson led a balanced attack with nine kills and added two blocks, while Marae Reilly posted eight kills on a .400 hitting percentage. Emma Barnett turned in eight kills, seven digs and two aces, and Bella Thompson set the tempo with 29 assists and seven digs.

In set one, Marshall opened with a kill from Barnett, then used a six-point service run by Morgan Caba to seize an 8-2 advantage, highlighted by a block and an ace. The Herd kept up the pressure, closing the set 25-15 after back-to-back kills by Carys Kerr.

The Herd raced out to a 4-0 lead behind Thompson's ace and a Barnett kill to start the second. Marshall closed the set on a ULM attack error, winning 25-11.

ULM briefly rallied within two points in the third, but Marshall responded with a Barnett ace at 18-16 and timely kills from Reilly down the stretch. Barnett's final kill, assisted by Thompson, sealed the sweep at 25-20.

Marshall hit .322 as a team, out-blocked ULM 10-5 and limited the Warhawks to a -.011 hitting percentage. The Herd finished with 40 kills, 10 blocks, 38 digs and four aces.
