HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The No. 22 Marshall Men's Soccer team (4-1-4, 2-1-0 SBC) erased a 1-0 deficit and powered past Georgia State (3-3-4, 1-1-1 SBC) 3-1 on Saturday night at Hoops Family Field. Alvaro Alvarez tallied his first two goals with The Herd as Keaviano Francis notched a pair of assists.

"Good comeback tonight," Herd Men's Soccer Head Coach Chris Grassie said after the match. "I think the guys have been very resilient all season, and I think we played better and better as the game went on."

After conceding the opening goal to the Panthers' Matt Taylor in the 41st minute, the Herd drew level less than two minutes later when Alvarez finished low to the left side off assists from Francis and Nikita Pakhomov. The equalizer shifted momentum just before halftime.

Marshall surged ahead early in the second half as Gabriel Stevanato came off the bench to slot home the go-ahead goal in the 49th minute, assisted by David de la Vibora. The Herd continued its offensive onslaught, and Alvarez struck again in the 58th minute, finishing another goal off a set-up from Francis for a 3-1 cushion.

Francis' assists bring him level with Yasha Scharerer for the team lead at four with Pakhomov and de la Vibora each registering their first of the season.

Marshall controlled possession and tempo, outshooting Georgia State 22-7 and forcing Panthers goalkeeper Loan Marin into five second-half saves.

Eddie DeMarco made a pair of saves in goal.
