Herd QB named as one of nation’s best by Manning Award for 2nd time this season
Vote For Carlos Del-Rio Wilson As Manning Award Quarterback of the Week
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall quarterback Carlos Del Rio-Wilson was named as one of the Manning Award's eight "Stars of the Week" on Monday.
It is the second time this season that Del Rio-Wilson has been named as one of the eight top quarterbacks in the nation for a week by the prestigious Manning Award, which is given to the top quarterback in the country at season's end.
Del Rio-Wilson's honor came after he returned to his hometown of Atlanta in triumphant fashion, accounting for 418 total yards and three touchdowns while leading the Herd offense to a turnover-free performance in the Herd's 30-18 win at Georgia State on Saturday.
The redshirt junior from Atlanta was 22 of 27 through the air for 321 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for another 97 yards.
Del Rio-Wilson was also at his best with the game on the line on Saturday.
With the Herd leading 24-18 and pinned deep in their own territory, Del Rio-Wilson took the game over, connecting on all four of his pass attempts for 75 yards while rushing for another 11 yards. His final pass connection was a 29-yard scoring strike to Adrian Norton to help seal the win.
With the Manning Award inclusion, Del Rio-Wilson is up for the Manning Award 'Quarterback of the Week', which is decided by fan voting.

This week, Del Rio-Wilson leads the Herd into Boone, N.C., where the team will take on App State at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday at Kidd Brewer Stadium.
