NEW ORLEANS – As the leading scorer for the Herd in all three of its victories over the past seven days, Marshall guard Timaya Lewis-Eutsey has been named the Sun Belt Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
In three games, Lewis-Eutsey scored 17, 17, and 18 points to lead Marshall in what was a breakout week offensively for the team. The Herd's senior transfer was efficient as well, making a combined 18-of-26 shots from the field, a blistering 70 percent shooting percentage. In Friday's win, Lewis-Eutsey dished out a season-high six assists for the Herd. The Trenton, New Jersey native leads the team with 20 assists.
Defensively, Lewis-Eutsey leads the Sun Belt Conference with 26 steals (3.7 avg./g), with 13 steals coming in the three games last week alone, spearheading the effort for Coach Juli Fulks' side which is atop the league by a sizable margin with 115 steals.
"Timaya has been a spark for us this season both offensively and defensively," Coach Fulks said. "This week specifically, her contributions helped lead us in winning three games. We are proud of her efforts and drive to make us better."
Lewis-Eutsey and the Herd return to the court Sunday, Nov. 30 at Morehead State.
