Marshall Women's Basketball Rolls to 105-40 Win Thursday Night

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall Women's Basketball delivered a comprehensive performance, rolling past Davis & Elkins 105-40 at Cam Henderson Center on Thursday night. The Herd improved its record to 8-3 with a dominant final non-conference home showing.
Marshall wasted no time seizing control, jumping out to a 24-16 lead after the first quarter and ratcheting up defensive pressure in the second. The Herd held D&E to just eight points in the second frame and took a commanding 47-24 lead into halftime. The third quarter was all Marshall, as the Herd blitzed the Senators 27-6 to turn the contest into a rout.
Six players scored in double figures, including Timaya Lewis-Eutsey who led all scorers with 18 points and six steals. Ni'Kiah Chesterfield came off the bench for a flawless night, going 6-for-6 from the field for 14 points and dishing out five assists. Peyton Ilderton also scored 14 points, hitting four of six from beyond the arc and leading the team with six assists.
Blessing King anchored the interior with a double-double of 11 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks, helping Marshall to a 52-20 rebounding advantage. Timberlynn Yeast nearly posted her own double-double, tallying 13 points, eight rebounds, four assists and four steals. As a team, Marshall shot 53.4 percent from the floor, dominated the paint 56-10, and forced turnovers that resulted in a 29-4 edge in points off turnovers.
"Lot of good effort from a lot of people," Head Coach Juli Fulks said. "Everyone got their 20 minutes in basically, that is the last trial because it starts for real next week with a big game Sunday."
