Herd Women’s Basketball Bounces Back With 75-53 Road Victory

12/3/2025 8:40:00 PM | Women's Basketball

BALTIMORE, Md. – Marshall Women's Basketball earned its first true road win of the season in dominant fashion, defeating Coppin State 75-53 Wednesday evening at the Physical Education Complex in Baltimore.

The Herd, now 6-3, led from start to finish behind a tenacious defense and a balanced offensive attack, highlighted by Timaya Lewis-Eutsey's game-high 19-point, five-assist performance.

"I was really proud of our effort tonight," Head Coach Juli Fulks said. "I thought the last two games we had been really lethargic for who we were when we started the year. We've spent the last few days talking about needing to make sure we got back to our personal identity of who we are and that starts with really getting after it on defense, and I thought we did a much better job 'flying around' today and then a much better job moving the ball around on offense."

"Overall a really good effort and lots of things I was proud of, but mostly we had a whole lot more energy."

Marshall opened the game with its signature defensive intensity, forcing the Eagles into 15 turnovers in the opening 20 minutes. The Herd forced 25 turnovers total, back above the 20 mark after a two-game hiatus. Peyton Ilderton was a defensive spark, racking up three steals and adding 10 points with four assists.

Lewis-Eutsey, the Sun Belt Conference leader in steals, set the tone early, attacking the basket and finding open shooters. She finished 7-of-11 from the floor.

Meredith Maier caught fire from deep, hitting five three-pointers on her way to 17 points, a season-high. The Herd hit 12 triples as a team and finished 11-of-12 at the free throw line.
