Marshall Men’s Basketball Heads South for a Pair of Contests

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Men's Basketball team (15-10, 8-4 SBC) hits the road for a pair of contests this weekend at South Alabama (16-9, 8-4 SBC) on Thursday and at Louisiana (8-17, 5-7 SBC) on Saturday.

Both contests are set for 8 p.m. EST/7 p.m. CST starts in Mobile, Alabama, and Lafayette, Louisiana.

PRE-GAME NOTES

Marshall begins a four-game road stretch after taking down the SBC-leading Arkansas State Red Wolves 77-72 in Huntington last Wednesday as it enters tied for second in the SBC standings with App State, James Madison, South Alabama and Troy.
Nate Martin recorded his fifth double-double of the season with 18 points and 14 rebounds while recording the 1,000th point in his collegiate career.
At 14 points and 10 assists, Dezayne Mingo picked up his first double-double of the season.
The Herd had its first game of the season with five scorers in double-figures as Mikal Dawson tallied 15, Wyatt Fricks 12 and Obinna Anochili-Killen added 11.
Anochili-Killen recorded four blocks in the victory bring his total to 65 on the season, third most in the country, as the team ranks 30th in blocks per game at 4.9.

ABOUT THE JAGUARS

South Alabama is coming off a lose in the MAC-SBC Challenge on the road to Akron on Saturday, 80-67, but has won its last two SBC contests on February 1 at Louisiana, 62-58, and at Coastal Carolina last Wednesday, 84-59.
The Jags lead the SBC and rank 10th in points allowed per game at 62.9 and 15th in the country in assist-to-turnover ratio at 1.60.
Judah Brown sits second in the SBC in three-point percentage as he makes 41 percent of his shots from the behind the arc.

ABOUT THE RAGIN' CAJUNS

Louisiana is coming off a 66-64 win at Northern Illinois on Saturday.
The Ragin' Cajuns make 74.1 percent of their free throws, the second-best mark in the SBC.
Mostapha El Moutaouakkil leads Louisiana at 13.2 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.
