Herd Dominant on the Road With 76-58 Win at App State

BOONE, N.C. – Everything clicked for Marshall's Women's Basketball team Wednesday evening in a 76-58 win on the road at App State. The Herd (9-18, 4-11 SBC) has now won two of its last three. The loss drops the Mountaineers (13-13, 9-6 SBC) to its fourth in a row.
Marshall was dominant in the second quarter especially, outscoring the hosts 23-7 to take a 15 point lead into halftime. Coach Juli Fulks's Herd led by as much as 26 near the end of the third.

"We've obviously had so many close games and it has just felt like forever we were going to break out at some point," Coach Fulks said. "So to have it happen and have it happen on the road, we want to build some momentum going into the tournament because we know we can score the ball and know we can get stops. As we just keep getting better and getting more people involved, the better we are going to be."

Offensively, Aislynn Hayes led the game with 29 points, her second such performance in the last three games. Wednesday was her ninth game with 20 or more points in a contest this season.
Meanwhile, junior CC Mays had her sixth-consecutive game with 15 or more points, netting 16 in the win.
MU outrebounded the hosts, 32-31. The visitors won the turnovers margin, 15-12.
App jumped out to a 7-0 lead to start the game. Marshall worked its way back in, taking a lead it would not relinquish on a Timberlynn Yeast triple with a minute to go in the opening frame.
Marshall plays at Georgia State Saturday, Feb. 22 at 2 p.m. It will be the final regular season road contest of the season for the Herd.
