Women’s Hoops Leads Wire-to-Wire in Road Win Over Georgia State

ATLANTA, Ga. – Marshall's Women's Basketball hit on its first three 3-pointers and never looked back in a wire-to-wire win on the road at Georgia State, 70-59.
The Herd (10-18, 5-11 SBC) continued its hot-shooting from its Wednesday evening win by taking a 29-9 lead after the opening 10 minutes against the Panthers (14-14, 7-9 SBC). 20 points was the largest lead held by Coach Juli Fulks's team.
"Any time you can build a big lead early, you hope to do that," Coach Fulks said. "I think we really understood the plan. You know what is going to happen when everybody gets tired. Transition defense is harder, keeping someone in front is harder and press break is harder. I thought we did a great job of battling through it, we got the sweep for the weekend and look to keep building momentum."

Aislynn Hayes continued her hot streak with 26 points to lead Marshall, including 12 in the decisive opening quarter. In a remarkably consistent season,
Hayes has now reached double figures in 24 of the 27 games she has played in, with her scoring nine points in each of the three non-double digit games. Saturday was her 10th game with 20 or more points.
Saturday also served as a breakout for Meredith Maier, who had her best performance upon returning from injury with 18 points on six made threes.
These two 👇 combined for more points than GSU in the first half. 🔥
