ORLANDO, Fla. – The Marshall University Swimming and Diving closed out action at the Sun Belt Conference Swimming and Diving Championships in Orlando, Florida, on Saturday with Kseniia Luniushina earning co-top scorer at the meet, with a pair of program records and an NCAA B Standard.
"What a great three and a half days for this group," Herd Swimming and Diving Head Coach Ian Walsh said. "We have an incredible leadership group that took this young team under their wing and showed them what it means to be part of this program. We haven't gotten through all of the accolades this team accumulated this week, I couldn't be prouder of what we accomplished and how we navigated this conference championship."
Luniushina finished with 57 points at the event earning four gold medals and three silver. The freshman lowered her program record in the 200 Backstroke with a gold medal winning time of 1:58.03. Mia McBride won bronze finishing in 1:00.01.
In the 200 Butterfly, Lauren McNamara broke her program record twice finishing with a gold medal performance and NCAA B Standard at 1:58.73, recording the first sub-two-minute time in program history. Madeline Hart took bronze in a time of 2:00.77 in her final collegiate race.
Eszter Laban started the final session winning the 1650 Freestyle in 16:51.16 to close out her college career.
"Our final session was our strongest, walking away with three individual championships and another NCAA B standard by Lolo. Seeing Eszter cap her career with a win was really special. Kseniia's record win in the 200 Back solidified her Co-Swimmer of the Meet which was a lot fun to see."
In Platform Diving, Grace Kelsheimer took fifth with a score of 209.35 with MJ Leviaguirre taking sixth with a score of 207.40, the second and fourth highest scores, respectively, in program history.
Audrey West captured silver in the 200 Breaststroke besting her personal best by a hundredth of a second in 2:15.64, third-fastest in program history, as Paige Banton won bronze.
The team's 400 Freestyle Relay of Luniushina, West, Molly Warner and Parker Lynch took silver finishing in 3:23.48, the fifth fastest time in program history.
