NEW ORLEANS - Marshall University senior Rielly Lucas has been named the Sun Belt Conference Softball Player of the Week on Tuesday, as announced by the league office.Â
Lucas was instrumental in Marshall's SBC series sweep at JMU, hitting four home runs with five hits in nine at-bats (.556) and three walks. The Huntington native had five total home runs in Marshall's five games last week with six hits in 16 at-bats (.375) to lead the Herd to a 5-0 week.Â
On the season, the senior is leading the team with nine home runs and 22 RBI.Â
"Rielly has shown solid confidence at the plate this season and it was fun to see her really shine this weekend with five monster home runs," Head Coach Morgan Zerkle said.
The Cabell Midland High School graduate hit home runs in consecutive innings in Marshall's 14-4 route over JMU on Saturday. It was her second career multi-home run game. She now has 25 career home runs for the Herd, a number tied for 13th all-time in MUSB history.Â
