Four Herd MBB Student-Athletes Named CSC Academic All-District

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall University Men's Basketball student-athletes Cade Gibbs, Jakob Gibbs, Nate Martin and Dezayne Mingo were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team.

To be eligible, the student-athlete must have maintained at least a 3.5 GPA and either played in 90 percent of the team's games or started in 66 percent of the contests.

Mingo, a Health Sciences major, second in the SBC at 5.2 assists per game and third in assist/turnover ratio at 1.98 and at 12.6 points per game. The junior tallied double-figure points in 18 of his 29 games played during the season, including four 20-point efforts with a double-double in the final game of the regular season against App State with a career-high 11 rebounds and 10 points.

Martin, pursuing his MBA, averaged 9.6 points and 8.1 rebounds, fifth most in the conference, per game as he started in all 33 of Marshall's contests. The Houston, Texas, native had 18 games of double-figure scoring with a season-high 23 against Bellarmine on November 16 with six double-doubles during the year.

Cade, a Human Resources Management Major, and Jakob, a Health Care Administration major, each played in 30 contests during the 2024-25 season. Natives of Plainfield, Indiana, Cade averaged 4.2 points and 22.6 rebounds per game in 13.2 minutes with a season-high 17 points in a win over James Madison (Jan. 9) as Jakob averaged 2.7 points and 2.0 rebounds in 12.3 minutes per game with a season-high 11 points in a win at Georgia Southern (Jan. 25).
