Anochili-Killen Named SBC Defensive Player of the Year

NEW ORLEANS – Marshall University Men's Basketball forward Obinna Anochili-Killen was named the Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Year and All-Sun Belt Second Team on Monday, as announced by the league office.
 
Anochili-Killen led the SBC and ranked second in the nation with 90 blocks, with 70 of them coming in the conference games. The graduate student recorded five games of five blocks with a pair of nine rejection games.
 
The native of Lagos, Nigeria, led the SBC in field goal percentage at 56.3 percent to go with 13.9 points per game. Ancohili-Killen registered at least 10 points in 23 of the 30 games he played in, including five games of at least 20 points, with four double-doubles.…four double-doubles.
 
Marshall prepares for the 2025 Sun Belt Conference Tournament with its first game scheduled for Friday against either Southern Miss, Coastal Carolina, Georgia Southern or Georgia State in Pensacola, Florida.
