Herd’s strong final round leads to 4th-place team finish at Highland
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – Marshall junior Madison Borders stayed consistent all week and earned a 4th place finish at the Butler Fall Invitational, which concluded at Highland Golf Club on Tuesday.
In tough course conditions, Borders was in the top-5 after every single round of competition and finished the week with 10 birdies to lead Marshall.
The effort helped Marshall to a 4th place finish as a team.
For Borders, the par-4 5th hole and the par-4 14th hole were among her favorites as she birdied the holes in two of three rounds to aid her performance.
Borders also played the lengthy par-5s well, finishing at 1-under for the tournament on the course's longest holes.
Playing as an individual, Taylor Sargent also earned a top-25 finish after strong rounds on Monday.
In Monday's first round, Sargent notched three straight birdies on Hole Nos. 16-18 to highlight her week.
Marshall returns to action next week at the Pirate Collegiate Classic in Greenville, N.C. The 54-hole tournament runs from Oct. 6-7.
