ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Marshall University Volleyball team (4-2) split Saturday's doubleheader at the Michigan Invitational, topping Southern Indiana in four sets (25-20, 25-16, 22-25, 25-13) before falling to host Michigan in straight sets (25-16, 25-21, 25-17) at Crisler Center.

Proud of what we're building — not just the wins, but the hard work, resilience, and unity behind them," Herd Volleyball Head Coach Heather Stout said. "This weekend showed just how much we're growing, on both sides of the ball. Every player stepped up, and our middles were huge contributors in both matches. As the day went on, we really dialed in our serving, which paid off in those tight later sets. Excited to keep battling and growing together, especially against this level of competition. Even more excited to finally be home this week and show what Marshall Volleyball has been working on."

Marshall 3, Southern Indiana 1
Audrey Geer powered the Herd with 13 kills, while Beatrice Ciccarelli was dominant at the net, finishing with 10 kills and eight blocks, including the match-clinching point in the fourth set. Marshall opened the day strong, taking the first two sets 25-20 and 25-16 behind efficient attacking and a strong blocking presence.

After Southern Indiana responded with a 25-22 win in the third, Marshall regrouped, surging to a 25-13 victory in the fourth.

Michigan 3, Marshall 0
Geer again led the way with six kills and six digs, while Logan Henderson matched her with six kills and one block. Marae Reilly delivered five kills on .417 hitting percentage and Beatrice Ciccarelli added five kills and two blocks.

Marshall showed determination in the second set, coming back to tie the score at 18, but Michigan pulled away with a late run. The Herd closed within two in the third before Michigan ended the frame on a 6-0 rub. Maya Hunt tallied 11 assists and a service ace.

The Herd posted a .241 hitting percentage in the opening set and saw consistent production from both the front row and back line.
