Herd Volleyball Hosts EKU for Home Opener, Travels to Hokie Invitational

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Volleyball team (4-2) readies for a four-match week. The Herd hosts EKU on Tuesday night at 6 p.m. for its home opener before traveling to Blacksburg, Virginia for the Hokie Invitational for matches against Virginia Tech, Robert Morris and UMES.

PRE-MATCH NOTES

The Herd closed out the Michigan Invitational on Saturday splitting its final two matches with a win over Southern Indiana.
Emma Barnett leads The Herd with 52 kills as Audrey Geer follows with 48.
With 116 and 87 assists, Bella Thompson and Maya Hunt rank first and second, respectively, on the team.
Defensively, Emma Sayre leads Marshall with 70 digs as Beatrice Ciccarelli sits 26 blocks during the season.

SCOUTING EKU

The Colonels sit at 4-2 after going 2-1 at Xavier Invitational with wins over IU Indianapolis and Miami (OH) before falling to Xavier.
Emillee Hill leads EKU 56 kills as Caitlyn Flees and Carson Ledford each sit at 19 blocks.

SCOUTING VIRGINIA TECH

The Hokies enter the week 5-1 after a perfect weekend at the Blue Hen Invitational with sweeps over Hampton, Delaware and Le Moyne.
Payton Woods has a team-high 63 kills with Erica Fava leading at 43 digs.

SCOUTING ROBERT MORRIS

The Colonials are 1-5 entering the week after going 1-2 at Chick fil-A Volleyball Classic falling to Loyola Maryland and Duquesne in five sets with a five-set win over FDU.
Jocelyn Jourdan leads RMU with 57 kills.

SCOUTING UMES

The Hawks sit at 2-5 after falling to Montana State, Gonzaga and CSU Bakersfield at the Gonzaga Tournament.
Valeria Matias leads UMES with 102 digs through the team's first seven matches.
