HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall Vice President and Director of Athletics Gerald Harrison announced the hiring of Tyler Ferris as Associate Athletic Director for Major Gifts for the Big Green Scholarship Foundation on Friday.
Ferris returns to his alma mater after having spent the last two years at UNC Asheville where he was the Assistant Athletic Director for Advancement.
"Coming back and being able to have an immediate impact on a place that I care so much about made the decision to return so much easier," Ferris said. "I can't thank Teddy Kluemper and Gerald Harrison enough for this incredible opportunity. I am ready to Run With The Herd … again!"
Ferris is a familiar face among Marshall Athletics and the Big Green Scholarship Foundation – an aspect that will be pivotal as he rekindles relationships with Big Green donors and makes more connections for the Marshall community.
"We are thrilled to welcome Tyler Ferris back to the Marshall family," Harrison said. "Revenue generation has never been more important than in today's college athletics landscape and the addition of Tyler gives us someone with a proven track record of success in securing gifts while also bringing back a Son of Marshall who is fully invested with the university and the community. We can't wait for Tyler to help us elevate the Big Green to new heights in the future."
Prior to his time at UNC Asheville, Ferris worked as the Assistant Director of Development for the Big Green Scholarship Foundation, assisting in all facets of development from the time of his hire in 2020.
During his time at Marshall, Ferris helped the Big Green's annual scholarship fund surpass the $2 million milestone for the first time. He also was a central figure in Marshall's first-ever craft beer partnership with Country Boy Brewing.

"He brings experience, positive energy and a drive that will immediately make our team better. The relationships he built with our donors during his previous time here are incredibly valuable, but even more important is his passion for advancing the Big Green and Marshall Athletics. That commitment is a true game-changer."
Ferris graduated from Marshall in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts in Print Journalism and a minor in Marketing. He is a graduate of Winfield High School.
