Marshall Women's Basketball Battles Past ULM, Wins Second Road Game in 24 Hours

1/23/2026 6:03:00 PM | Women's Basketball

MONROE, La. – Marshall Women's Basketball played its second game in less than 24 hours Friday - and won its second game in that span, defeating ULM, 82-75 to move to 17-5 on the season and 8-2 in Sun Belt Conference play.

With Winter Storm Fern creating havoc on schedules, Coach Juli Fulks's Herd was tasked with driving over 200 miles immediately following its Thursday night victory over Southern Miss before taking the court Friday afternoon at Fant-Ewing Coliseum against the Warhawks.

"One of the things that I am really proud of is this is a group with the harder the challenge the more they rise," Head Coach Juli Fulks said. "We knew we put a lot of effort into the first half of the Southern Miss game [Thursday night], we had burned energy so we had to get that win. Then today I thought they did a great job and honestly I thought our staff did a great job with the turnaround, finding a way for us to have a chance in that game. It was a really gutsy effort and I am proud of them. It's going to help us in the conference tournament when you have to win back-to-back but thankfully not have to travel three-and-a-half hours in the middle."

Senior leadership led the way Timaya Lewis-Eutsey scored 25 points to lead the Herd. Fellow seniors Meredith Maier and Peyton Ilderton scored 14 and 12 apiece.

The Herd trailed by as much as 11 in the opening quarter before rallying to tie the game after one and taking a two point lead into halftime. Maier's three triples in the third were part of a 21-6 quarter that proved decisive.

"Core values can't just be things you say, you have to live it," said Coach Fulks. "Ours are 'we have to show up, we have to work hard, and we have to adapt' and there were a hundred things about the last two days that we had to adapt and change. It is something that we take a lot of pride in."

"The thing I already know about this team is they have toughness, and when they can stay together and keep picking each other up and be great teammates, we always have a chance."

With the win, the Herd finishes its season-long four game road swing, 2-2. Marshall moves to within a half game of the league's lead just past the halfway point of the conference season.
