Tom Huynh Hired As Herd Swim & Dive’s New Diving Coach

Talented young diving coach comes to Herd from Purdue
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall Swim & Dive Coach Ian Walsh announced the hiring of Tom Huynh as the new Diving Coach on Wednesday.
Huynh comes to Marshall from Purdue where he served as an Elite Diving Biomechanics Research Fellow and Head Team Manager and Meet Coordinator for the Boilermakers.
"We are thrilled to have Tom join our program," Walsh said. "From the first conversation, we knew he was going to be a great addition to our staff. He had glowing recommendations from some of the brightest minds in the sport of diving. Tom's ability to connect with people, along with his elite 'Diving IQ' was the perfect fit for what we were searching for to lead our program."
At Purdue, Huynh helped develop athlete testing and profiling standards and protocols to improve strength, technical skill and mental weakness while creating a system accessible to coaches.
Huynh also coordinated all aspects of the Purdue program – from competitions to nutrition to video analysis – while also working with NCAA Compliance and other departments to execute recruiting visits and team travel.
"I have no doubt that, with Tom at the helm, our divers will be positioned well to compete alongside the best in The American," Walsh said. "Our staff is looking forward to working with Tom as we begin our first season in The American conference."
Huynh's work at his alma mater within his research fellowship comes after he earned his B.S. in Biomedical Engineering as a Dean's List honoree at Purdue.
In addition to his duties with Purdue, Huynh serves as Vice-Chair for the USA Diving Coaches Advisory Committee and was a key figure in the sport in the Greater Lafayette (Ind.) area, serving as a Meet Coordinator and local head coach for the next generation of divers.
