Herd takes doubles point, two singles contests

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Marshall University Tennis team (2-3) fell in a tight 4-3 contest on the road to Wake Forest Friday in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

"We fought hard today. I'm proud of the team," Herd Tennis Head Coach John Mercer said.

The Herd started out strong in doubles with Nour El Ouazzani and Johanna Strom taking a 6-2 decision at number three doubles as Alina Mokrynska and Polina Gumeniuk secured the doubles point with a 6-4 win at number one doubles.

The Demon Deacons took four singles matches to take the contest, but Mokrynska battled back for a three-set win on court three as Gumeniuk took her match at number two in a third-set tiebreaker.
