ATLANTA – The Marshall Men's Soccer Team (8-2-4, 4-1-2 SBC) notched its second consecutive clean sheet with a 2-0 win in Atlanta on Sunday night over the Georgia State Panthers.

Alan Horrocks registered his second straight clean sheet and his fifth win of the season in the match.

"We're forgetting about the first half, delete that from memory. Second half we executed the game plan well, played well and got our rewards," Herd Men's Soccer Head Coach Chris Grassie said. "From halftime on, I thought the lads were good. Two things that give me a good feeling about this group are: one, we've now won away at Georgia State and Coastal Carolina, which are difficult places to come and play. Two, we are still nowhere near this group's potential. If we clean up a few things, and we get a touch more championship-focus, we can be a top team!"

The Herd came out firing. Gabriel Stevanato had a shot on goal on in the fifth minute, but it was saved by GSU goalkeeper Jackson Burrell.

Carl Romberg and Ramado Pierre-Louis each had a shot on target in the 15th and 32nd minutes, respectively, with each attempt saved by Burrell.

Horrocks then kept the Panthers off the board when Kenny Yedmel fired a shot in the 37th minute to see the sides enter halftime 0-0.

Then at the 61:09 mark, Pierre-Louis dished a pass to Nikita Pahkomov. Pahkomov cut into the 18-yard box and fired a shot past Burrell for his fourth goal of the season to make it 1-0 Marshall. Pierre-Louis also notched his team-leading sixth assist of the year.

Horrocks followed with a crucial save in the 72nd minute on an attempt by Emmanuel Amede.

In the 80th minute, Joshua Nugent pounced on a misplay by Burrell and put a goal into an empty net to double the Herd's lead to 2-0 on his team-best fifth goal of the season.

Georgia State had a couple of shots blocked in the final 10 minutes as Marshall hung on for the road win.
