BOONE, N.C. – Marshall Volleyball (14-11, 7-7 SBC) lost to App State in four sets Friday (23-25, 25-19, 25-22, 25-19) to close the team's final regular season road trip of 2026.
Carys Kerr led the Herd with 12 kills. Beatrice Ciccarelli also finished with 10 kills. Kahea Carvalho had 19 assists while Emma Barnett and Addison Saunders had nine digs each.
Marshall responded in the perfect way after a frustrating Thursday with a 25-23 opening set victory. Ciccarelli and Maddie Smith paced the Herd with four kills each in the first set. Smith had the winning kill to seal the opening set for MU.
After App State took the second set, the third set proved costly for Marshall, who led 19-14 following a Kerr kill and an App error. The Mountaineers went on a 5-0 run before another Kerr kill got MU to 20 in the set. A 5-1 run for the hosts had the Herd trailing entering the fourth set.
A Barnett kill had the team up 14-13 in the fourth set, but a 5-0 run sealed MU's fate for the set and the match.
