Herd Returns to SBC Play to Begin Crucial Stretch Run Hosting Georgia State, Arkansas State

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – With just three weeks remaining in the regular season, Marshall's Women's Basketball team (20-6, 10-3 SBC) returns to league action Thursday night against Georgia State (9-15, 4-8 SBC). Tipoff from the Cam Henderson Center is at 6 p.m. 

The Herd will then host the league-leading Arkansas State Red Wolves (20-5, 11-1 SBC) Saturday at 1 p.m. The crucial matchup will also serve as the Herd's annual Sweetheart Clinic Game.

COACH JULI FULKS

  • Head Coach Juli Fulks is in year two leading Marshall's Women's Basketball program. Fulks came to the Herd with a prestigious 400 wins while leading Transylvania to the 2022-23 DIII National Championship. 
  • Fulks and the Herd set a program record with four postseason wins in its run during the 2025 Sun Belt Women's Basketball Championship. 

PREGAME NOTES

  • Senior Timaya Lewis-Eutsey was recognized as an Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player of the Week honoree by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) Tuesday. The Herd's senior guard earned her third SBC Player of the Week honor on Tuesday as well, accomplishing a feat last done by a Marshall player in 1998-99 (Kristina Behnfeldt).   
  • With its win Saturday in the MAC-SBC Challenge, Marshall clinched its 2nd 20-win season in three years. The Herd can tie for its 3rd most wins in a single-season (21) with a victory on Thursday. 
  • Marshall is allowing 62.9 PPG which is 2nd in the SBC. There are two teams in the league that have a higher mark than Marshall's turnover margin (5.42) - Arkansas State (9.84) and Georgia State (6.04).

ABOUT THE PANTHERS

  • Georgia State is 9-15 with a 4-8 league record. The Panthers have a 3-10 record away from Atlanta. 
  • Junior guard Crystal Henderson is 3rd in the league in scoring, averaging 16.5 PPG. Henderson and Lewis-Eutsey are two of four players in the SBC averaging more than 15 per game. 
  • Marshall leads the all-time series, 5-2. The Panthers came away with the win on senior night in Huntington last season, 70-68.   

ABOUT THE RED WOLVES

  • Arkansas State has carried the momentum from its SBC Tournament victory and NCAA Tournament appearance last season en route to a 20-5 and 11-1 SBC record this season. 
  • The Red Wolves are forcing 27.4 turnovers per game which is ranked 2nd in NCAA DI. The team's 9.84 turnover margin is 6th in the nation. 
  • Marshall leads the all-time series, 3-1.
