Senior Day battle with SBC tournament implications now a 9 p.m. tip-off
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – On Friday, the Sun Belt Conference announced that Marshall Men's Basketball's home finale on Feb. 27 against Georgia Southern has moved to 9 p.m. and will be shown nationally on ESPN2.
Friday's announcement was made as part of the Sun Belt Conference's television contract with ESPN.
Marshall Men's Basketball and its brand continue to be a prime target for ESPN's linear networks in their partnership with the Sun Belt Conference.
The Feb. 27 matchup with Georgia Southern will be the second time this season that Marshall will be shown nationally – the other also coming this Saturday at Georgia Southern at 8:30 p.m. on ESPNU.
Marshall is 16-9 overall and 8-4 in Sun Belt Conference play, which has them currently at No. 4 in the SBC standings – just one game out of first place with six games to play, meaning that game will have important SBC Tournament implications.
It is the second straight year that Marshall Men's Basketball has been featured twice among the SBC's limited number of nationally televised contests. In all, Marshall has had six SBC games selected for national broadcasts in its four years in the SBC.
The contest also serves as Marshall's Senior Day at Cam Henderson Center – the third straight year that Senior Day has been a nationally-televised contest in Huntington.
Feb. 27 is a full day of action for Marshall fans to enjoy with the home baseball opener scheduled for 3 p.m. against Butler and Marshall Women's Basketball also taking on Georgia Southern at 6 p.m. for Senior Day prior to the nationally televised game for the Men's Basketball teams.
