Top of Sun Belt at Stake as Marshall Women’s Basketball Makes Peach State Swing

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall's Women's Basketball team (22-6, 12-3 SBC) makes its final road trip of the 2025-26 regular season in Georgia. The Herd will face Georgia Southern (19-6, 12-2 SBC) Thursday evening at 6 p.m. from Statesboro before traveling to Atlanta to meet Georgia State (9-17, 4-10 SBC) at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Marshall, Georgia Southern, and Troy each have 12 wins as the season approaches its final two weeks before the conference tournament.

COACH JULI FULKS

  • Head Coach Juli Fulks is in year two leading Marshall's Women's Basketball program. Fulks came to the Herd with a prestigious 400 wins while leading Transylvania to the 2022-23 DIII National Championship. 
  • Fulks and the Herd set a program record with four postseason wins in its run during the 2025 Sun Belt Women's Basketball Championship. 

PREGAME NOTES

  • Marshall's 22 wins are third-most in program history (26 in 2023-24, 24 in 1986-87). The 12 league victories are second-most in team history trailing only the 17 the team had two seasons ago. 
  • Senior Timaya Lewis-Eutsey now leads the conference in scoring average with 18.8 PPG. The three-time SBC Player of the Week leads the league with 3.6 steals per contest.
  • Marshall enters the week a half-game behind Georgia Southern and Troy for the league-lead. The Herd has three games remaining opposed to the four games the Eagles and Trojans have left to play in the regular season. For the full SBC standings, view HERE.

ABOUT THE EAGLES

  • Georgia Southern is having a breakthrough second season under head coach Hana Haden. The 2023-24 WBCA DII National Coach of the Year has the Eagles seeking its first 20-win season since 2022-23. 
  • Destiny Garrett is fifth in the league with 15.2 PPG. The grad. senior is a transfer from Georgia Southwestern State. 
  • Marshall leads the all-time series, 12-10.  

ABOUT THE PANTHERS

  • Georgia State is 9-17 overall with a 4-10 conference record, but is 6-5 in Atlanta.  
  • Crystal Henderson is third in the league with 16.3 PPG. The junior guard did not play when the two sides met in Huntington last week.
  • Marshall leads the all-time series, 6-2 including its 71-56 victory on Feb. 12.
