HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall University Swimming and Diving sophomore Lauren McNamara has been selected to represent Team USA at the 2026 FISU America Games in Lima, Peru, this July 20 through August 1.
"For many Olympic sport athletes, it is their dream to represent their country at the international level," Herd Swimming and Diving Head Coach Lauren McNamara said. "We tell our women that you can accomplish anything you are willing to work for in our program, and it can be done here at Marshall. The staff and team couldn't be more proud of Lauren and the opportunity she has earned to represent Team USA in Peru this summer."
She will join a talented group of collegiate athletes representing the United States of America on the international stage. Based on her Long Course meter performances at US Open this December and the overall team composition, she will compete at the Games in the 100 and 200 Butterfly.
"Being selected as an athlete to represent the United States is a such an honor and something I didn't know was a possibility," McNamara said. "I want to thank Coach Ian for nominating me, for believing in me, for preparing me for the opportunity of a lifetime."
In addition to her individual events, Lauren may also have the opportunity to contribute to Team USA in up to 3 relay events. A & B Relays will be contested along with mixed relays. Final relay selections will be determined by the coaching staff and Team USA Head Coach Dave Rollins.
McNamara broke the 200 Butterfly program record five time in the last two years, including three times this season, with the last time coming at the American Conference Championship in Greensboro, North Carolina, in February as she won the Championship in the event.
