#5 Seed Herd Women’s Basketball Opens SBC Tournament with #12 Seed South Alabama

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – As the No. 5 seed in the 2026 Sun Belt Conference Women's Basketball Championship, Marshall's women's basketball team (23-8) opens tournament play Friday at 12:30 p.m. eastern, 11:30 a.m. Pensacola time against the No. 12 seed South Alabama (15-17).

COACH JULI FULKS
- Head Coach Juli Fulks is in year two leading Marshall's Women's Basketball program. Fulks came to the Herd with a prestigious 400 wins while leading Transylvania to the 2022-23 DIII National Championship.
- Fulks and the Herd set a program record with four postseason wins in its run during the 2025 Sun Belt Women's Basketball Championship.
PREGAME NOTES
- Marshall has found success at the Pensacola Bay Center for the SBC Tournament. The Herd is 8-2 all-time having won the 2024 edition and reeling off a program-record four-consecutive postseason wins last season.
- Senior Timaya Lewis-Eutsey earned All-SBC First Team after finishing the regular season as the league's leader in scoring (19.4 PPG) and steals (3.6 spg). Among an array of accomplishments, Lewis-Eutsey was named the league's Newcomer of the Year.
- Marshall will have other veterans to rely on come tournament time, seniors Peyton Ilderton and Meredith Maier have each set career-highs on the floor at the Pensacola Bay Center. Maier matched a then-career-best 20 points in the Herd's 2024 overtime championship victory over JMU. Ilderton's 21 points in last season's 4th round victory over App State remains a career-high to date.

ABOUT THE JAGUARS
- Like Marshall last year, South Alabama has won three games in three days after starting on opening day of the tournament.
- The Herd won in Mobile earlier this season, 69-60. Marshall opened its own run in last season's tournament with a 73-59 victory. MU is 4-0 all-time against USA.
