Evynn Richard Named As Marshall’s First-Ever STUNT Head Coach

Former Cal Baptist coach brings championship pedigree to Herd’s newest program
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall Vice President and Director of Athletics Gerald J. Harrison announced Evynn Richard as Marshall's first STUNT head coach in history on Monday.
Richard will be introduced as the Herd's new STUNT coach in a press conference at 9 a.m. on May 26 at Cam Henderson Center. That press conference is open to the public.
"We are thrilled to welcome Evynn to the Marshall family," Harrison said. "She is an innovative leader with a wealth of knowledge and deep connections across STUNT on both the national and international levels. Coming highly recommended by USA Cheer and respected peers across the country, she brings a proven ability to elevate programs and people."
Richard brings a championship tradition to Marshall from Cal Baptist where she has been part of one of the nation's most dominant programs in any sport.
Now, she will help Marshall University build the base for its 19th sponsored intercollegiate sport.
"The addition of STUNT to Marshall University's distinguished roster of athletic programs represents a meaningful opportunity to contribute to the legacy of The Herd while further advancing authentic Division I athletic experiences for female athletes," Richard said. "I am so excited to bring the wealth of experience I gained from my role as coach for one of the most successful STUNT programs in history to Marshall as we establish this new program and cultivate a positive-cultured competitiveness through the eastern regions of the country. Cal Baptist has won six straight national championships – the last five coming with Richard as a key member of the coaching staff.
Since joining the Lancers' staff in Aug. 2021, Cal Baptist compiled a 125-0 record in STUNT competitions – an impressive feat which culminated with another national title last weekend at the 2026 College STUNT National Championships, which took place at Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tenn.
The Lancers wrapped up the title and their five-year run of perfection with a 27-22 win over Kentucky in the finals.
Richard brings to Huntington both a technical and administrative wealth of knowledge on what it takes to build a successful STUNT program at the highest level, making her the perfect individual to lead Marshall STUNT as it prepares for the 2027-28 year when it first takes part in competition.

In addition to her success with Cal Baptist on the national level, Richard serves as the Skills and Coach Development Program Director for Cheersport Netherlands – the National Cheer Federation for Netherlands.
With Cheersport Netherlands, she designs and distributes credential training & assessments for The Netherlands national team coaching staff while also conducting seminars to enhance coaching knowledge on skill instruction, the roles of physics in stunting and improving competitive readiness for athletes.
Richard earned her Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology in 2019 while completing her Master's of Public Health in 2021 – both from Cal Baptist.
