Herd Women’s Soccer’s Wiktoria Mikrut Earns SBC Offensive Player of the Week Honors

NEW ORLEANS - Marshall's Wiktoria Mikrut has been named the Sun Belt Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.
In two matches last week, Mikrut scored a hat trick and tallied a match-winning assist to lead Marshall to an unbeaten road trip at Belmont and UT Martin. The Poland native scored all three of the Herd's goals in a 3-3 tie at Belmont Thursday, recording the Herd's 10th hat trick in program history. She did so as Coach Rafa Simoes and the Herd faced a Belmont team entering the contest on an 11-game undefeated streak at home dating back to 2024.
"Wiktoria is very deserving of this award, but what stood out to me even more than the hat trick was her reaction after the game," said Coach Simoes. "When we went to congratulate her, her first thought was that she wished we had gotten the win. That tells you everything you need to know about her as a player. She puts the 'we' before the 'me.'"
The sophomore forward leads the team and is ranked 3rd in the SBC with four goals. Mikrut's assist Sunday night off the corner kick proved to be the match-winner, handing UTM its first loss of the season. The winning assist capped off a week where the sophomore notched seven points from three goals and an assist.
"We're really happy with the way she's helping us offensively, creating goals, assists, and quality opportunities for our team," said Coach Simoes. "At the same time, we're not surprised by her production. When we recruited Wiktoria, she was already doing those things at the junior college level. We're really excited to have her here, and I'm looking forward to seeing her continue to grow and help this team."
Mikrut's award is the Herd's first league weekly honor this season. MU had three SBC Offensive Player of the Week awards last season, a program-high dating back to the 2015 season.
