HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Volleyball Team (6-4) picked up a sweep (25-16, 25-21, 25-20) over Morehead State on Friday in the Cam Henderson Center.

"Great night for us. I thought we started off really well, serving aggressively, keeping Morehead State out of system," Herd Volleyball Head Coach Heather Stout said. "In set one, we hit .414 and did everything we liked, which started off the match nicely."
Â
Maddie Smith led the contest with 17 kills and a .389 hitting percentage as Kahea Carvalho had a double-double with 28 assists and 11 digs.

After dropping the first point of the first set, it was all Herd in the frame. Kills by Beatrice Ciccarelli, Logan Henderson and Smith along with an Emma Barnett service ace and an Eagles error saw MU jump out to a 6-1 advantage.

The second set was a little tighter seeing three lead changes and the scoreboard tied six times. However, after the score was tied 13-13, the Herd rattled off five of the next six points, including three kills by Smith to cruise to a 25-21 win in the frame.

The two sides traded off the first 16 points of the third set to see the score tied 8-8. Marshall eventually fought to build a six-point lead, 19-13, for its largest of the set after another kill by Smith. MU held off Morehead State to complete the sweep with a 25-20 win in the third set. Â
