2017-18 (JUNIOR): An All-Conference USA second team selection … member of the NABC district 11 second team … two-time league Player of the Week (Jan. 22 and Feb. 19) … earned the Tamar Slay Excellence Award from Marshall coaches … MVP of five games according to KenPom.com … fifth in program history for points scored in a single season (702) … his points total gave the Herd its first duo (him and Jon Elmore) to reach 700 points in a single season … Elmore and Burks became the first tandem to each eclipse 700 points since 2009-10, when Duke’s Jon Scheyer (728) and Kyle Singler (707) did it … 3-point percentage recorded by a player in program history … made the game-winning shot at North Texas (Feb. 17), while also scoring 26 points from 11-of-13 shots, 2-of-3 3-pointers and all two of his shots at the charity stripe … scored a game-high points vs. UTSA (March 8) from making 9-of-16 FGs, 2-of-6 3-pointers and 4-of-4 free throws, while he also pulled down nine rebounds … made a career-high four steals and scored 13 points in the NCAA game against No. 4 seed Wichita State … from Jan. 11-Feb. 3 he did not miss a single free throw … made 33 consecutive free throws from Feb.8-March 16 … reached double figure scoring in 33 of 35 games … scored at least 20 points in 17 games … collected 30 points three times this season ... as it stands, his 1,235 points are No. 32 in program history …led the team in scoring in 10 contests this season … after Jan. 11, Burks made 96.9 percent of his free throws (63-of-65).
2016-17 (SOPHOMORE): Appeared in 25 games and made one start (at Old Dominion on Feb. 23) … averaged 9.8 points, 2.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 0.8 steals in 25.6 minutes per game … scored a career-high 27 points from 11-of-15 (73.3 percent) shooting, 4-of-7 (57.1 percent) 3-pointers and 1-of-1 at the free throw line against Middle Tennessee (Feb. 18) … scored 25 points from 7-of-10 (70.0 percent) field goals 5-of-7 (71.4 percent) 3-pointers and going 6-of-6 at the charity stripe at Pittsburgh (Dec. 28) … reached double figure scoring 10 times during the season …scored a team-high 16 points vs. Middle Tennessee (March 11) … collected a season-high six assists vs. WKU (Jan. 21) … reached five assists in four different games … pulled down a season-high six rebounds and scored 14 points at No. 24 Cincinnati … shot 81-of-181 (44.8 percent) FGs, 27-70 (38.6 percent) and 42-of-54 (77.8 percent) at the free throw line during the season … his 38.6 percent from three-point land was a career-high.
2015-16 (REDSHIRT FRESHMAN): Two-time Conference USA Freshman of the Week (Nov. 30, Dec. 14) … appeared in all 33 games, making four starts (Dec. 1, 4, 6, 12) … reached double-figure scoring in 14 games … posted season-high 20 points at Ohio (Dec. 1) … third-best field goal percentage of Herd players with 100 makes or more (.478, 111-of-232) … averaged 8.8 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game … shot 47.8 percent from the field, 32.4 percent from long range and 70.8 percent from the free throw line … played season-high 39 minutes against Eastern Illinois (Dec. 9) … went 6-of-6 from the free throw line at Rice (Jan. 16) … sunk a season-high four 3-pointers against James Madison (Nov. 27) … had five rebounds against Eastern Illinois (Dec. 9), UTEP (Feb. 4) and UAB (Feb. 25).
2014-15 (FRESHMAN): Sat out the season as a prop.
HIGH SCHOOL: 6-foot-3 guard averaged 20 points per game for Hedgesville High in 2013-14, his senior season ... named to the Class AAA All-State first team, along with making the All-State Tournament Team after Hedgesville was eliminated by Hurricane in a triple-overtime semifinal contest ... in the quarterfinal round of the Class AAA State Tournament, scored a game-high 25 points in a 54-49 victory over Parkersburg South ... scored his high school career-high 36 points against Musselman, and was named Athlete of the Week for his performance ... MaxPreps.com had Burks pegged as the No. 9 recruit in the state of West Virginia ... Hedgesville won the state championship in 2012, his sophomore season.
