Son of Troy Van Komen and Lindsay Newville, step-father is Ed Newville • Father Troy played basketball at Lewis & Clark while mother, Lindsay, played for College of Eastern Utah (Athletic Hall of Fame inductee) and BYU.

GRADUATE STUDENT (2024-25)
Started all 32 games that he appeared in • Averaged 6.0 points and 7.9 rebounds per game in 22.8 minutes of action • Set a new Elon single-season program record with 75 blocked shots on the season • Shot 72 percent from the field, the highest percentage in a single-season in program history • Finished tenth in the country in blocks per game (2.34) and 13th in total blocks (75) • Scored a season-high 14 points with 14 rebounds versus Northeastern on Feb. 1 • Had a double-double at Penn with 10 points and 14 rebounds on Dec. 1 • Twice had a season-high six rejections; versus Wofford on Dec. 7 and versus Hampton on Jan. 4 • Scored 13 points while shooting 6-of-6 from the floor versus Bluefield College.

PRIOR TO ELON
Spent 2023-24 at Hawai'i Pacific • Played in 21 games with 10 starts for the Sharks, averaging 7.1 points and 7.4 rebounds per game with 47 blocks • Was a member of the Saint Mary's College team from 2020-23 • Appeared in 13 games with the Gaels • Spent his freshman season at Utah (2019-20), seeing action in nine games, scoring 12 points vs. Mississippi Valley State.

Ranked as a four-star player and the No. 2 recruit coming out of Utah by ESPN • Tabbed one of the top-20 centers in the nation according to ESPN • Led Pleasant Grove High School to the 2018 and 2019 6A state championship game • High school career 1166 points, 704 rebounds and 337 blocked shots • Holds Utah High School basketball record for the 2nd highest career blocks • 2017, 2018, and 2019 first team all-state selection • Two time invitee to the NBPA Top 100 Camp  • Received offers from Gonzaga, Baylor and Utah State.
