Mathews joined Marshall's staff in 2019 as its Offensive Quality Control after playing for the Thundering Herd for four seasons.
The Haymarket, Va. native caught 12 passes for 124 yards and three punts for 42 yards over the course of his career. He also served as Marshall's backup holder on its extra point/field goal unit.
Mathews graduated from Marshall in August 2019 with a BBA in Management.
