Justin Caldwell joined  the Marshall staff in the summer of 2023 after serving as head coach at Glenville State for five seasons.

In 2021, Glenville State’s team averaged 95.5 points per game and was ranked as high as No. 13 nationally. Both the 2021-22 and 2022-23 teams averaged 12 3-pointers per game with the 2022-23 team leading the nation in that category.

During his time at Glenville State, Caldwell mentored John Williams, who was an NCAA Division II All-American and a two-time All-MEC performer. He also coached former Marshall player Phil Bledsoe, who was a two-time All-MEC First Team selection.

Caldwell was also an elite scorer in his collegiate days, tallying 1,997 points in three years at West Virginia Wesleyan and one season at Glenville State. During his year with the Pioneers, Caldwell averaged 23.7 points per game.
