2016-17 (JUNIOR): Appeared in 23 games and made a career-high 21 starts … averaged 9.1 points, 6.5 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game … pulled down at least 10 rebounds six different times, including a career-high 11 rebounds three times … two of those three 11-rebound games came in the C-USA Tournament … scored a career-high 207 points, shot 70-of-136 (51.5 percent) FGs and made a career-high seven 3-pointers this season … led the team in rebounding nine times … tied his career-high in rebounds (11) three times during the season … collected his first double-double of the season from 20 points and 10 rebounds against N.C. Central (Nov. 12) … his second double-double of the season came from a career-high 25 points and 10 rebounds against UTEP (Jan. 28) … collected his final double-double of the season from 11 rebounds and 10 points vs. Old Dominion in the C-USA Tournament (March, 9) … named to the Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
2015-16 (SOPHOMORE): Named Bob Allen Most Improved Player by Herd coaches ... appeared in 32 of the Herd’s 33 games, averaging 11.3 minutes per game as “sixth man” … close to posting double-doubles in three different games – seven points, 10 rebounds against Florida Atlantic (Jan. 7); nine points, 10 rebounds at WKU (Feb. 13) and 11 points, eight rebounds versus UTEP (March 10) in the C-USA Quarterfinals … career-high 11 points against the Miners in the tournament … career-high 10 rebounds twice … played career-high 33 minutes at WKU (Feb. 13) … shot 48.7 percent (38-of-78) from the field and 33.3 percent from long range (2-of-6) for the year … averaged 3.4 points, 3.5 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game … named to C-USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
At Georgia Highlands College (2014-15): Reached 2015 NJCAA D-I Final Four, going 30-8 … averaged a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds during the tournament … Region 17 Champions … posted 9.6 points and 8.9 rebounds per game for the year … led the team in rebounds (322) and double-doubles (12) ... graduated with honors.
At Charlotte (2013-14): Named to Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll.
At Gray Military Prep (2012-13): Averaged 13 points, 11 rebounds, and 2 blocks per game. Helped team achieve an inaugural season record of 31-3 and rank as one of the top ten Prep schools in the nation.
At Riverside High (2008-12): As a senior, he earned first-team PAC 6 All-Conference honors, NCBCA All-District honors, Durham Herald All Area Team honors, named MVP for the Bull City Classic, and named team MVP for Riverside, averaging 18 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 blocks per game. As a junior in 2011, he was named Riverside Offensive Player of the Year, earned All-Conference honors, selected as a member of the 2010 GlaxoSmithKline ShavlikRandolph All-tournament team averaging 15 points and 7 rebounds and led Riverside to an upset victory over the defending NCHSAA state champions.
PERSONAL: Born Sept. 12, 1994 … son of Fred and the late Patricia Thompson … has one brother, Frederick Thompson II … major is biology with a chemistry minor … wants to go to medical school after undergrad and become a doctor.
