Maggie Stanley is entering her seventh season working with the Marshall women's basketball team in 2024-25 as Director of Basketball Operations, previously serving as a manager before being named a graduate assistant. Stanley's passion, fire and energy can always be found on the sidelines on gameday.
Stanley was elevated to the role on June 1, 2022, as Director of Basketball Operations. She was instrumental in the program's 2023-24 Sun Belt Championship winning season, navigating the logistics of qualifying for the program's first NCAA Tournament appearance in over 25 years.
Stanley began her journey with the women's basketball team in 2018 as a student manager and was soon named head manager. She oversaw three other student managers with the team. Stanley engaged in limited on-court activities and operated the clock during practices. She assisted with gameday preparation for home and away games and traveled to away games to help take care of things on the road. Stanley ensured that laundry was done for both the team and the coaching staff. She also assisted the director of operations with camps, fundraising and other day-to-day operations.
She graduated with her bachelor's degree in sport management in 2020 and then became a graduate assistant for the Herd.
Stanley had many duties during her two seasons as a GA. She oversaw equipment ordering and distributing equipment and gear for the entire program. Stanley continued to assist the director of operations with day-to-day tasks and helped with travel logistics and coordinating meals. She oversaw the budgeting for equipment, recruiting, and meals as well as the academic team for the student-athletes. Stanley engaged in on court activities, created graphics for social media and recruiting. She also recorded statistics and analyzed the stats with the coaching staff.
She accomplished all of this while earning her master's degree in sports administration from Marshall as well in 2022.
