Marshall Women’s Soccer head coach Rafa Simoes announced the hiring of Dan O’Connor as Assistant Coach and Director of Soccer Operations.
“Dan is a phenomenal person and a great coach with an extensive background in goalkeeping,” Simoes said. “After a national and international search, and three phases of interviews and assignments, Dan was the one who stood out. We are glad to have him with us and believe he will help us achieve new levels with this program. Welcome to the Herd Family, Dan!”
A native of England, O’Connor graduated from the University of Sunderland with a degree in Sport and Exercise Science. He brings over nine years of experience as a business partner and coach.
O’Connor’s playing career includes professional experience with Darlington FC and Torquay United, as well as success in futsal, where he represented and coached Sunderland Futsal Club in that time achieved two league titles and a regional finals appearance.
“I am very grateful for the opportunity to join Marshall,” O’Connor said. “It’s a big change leaving so much behind in England, but I’m excited about what we can achieve here. My goal is to work hard and elevate this program to its highest potential.”
