Max Remy was hired as the new Chief of Staff for Marshall Athletics by Vice President/Director of Athletics Gerald Harrison in December 2025.

Remy comes to Marshall from Austin Peay where he served as the Assistant Director of Athletics for Operations, Facilities and Capital Projects since June 2025.

“We are thrilled to welcome Max Remy to our team!” Harrison said of Remy. “Max’s journey – from a hard-working utility baseball player to a dedicated graduate assistant and now an exceptional young administrator – reflects the resilience, passion and commitment that define the very best in college athletics."

At Marshall, Remy’s duties as Chief of Staff will include strategic and analytical leadership that ensures efficiency with oversight of departmental initiatives and the executive operations of the office of the Director of Athletics.

In addition to managing the daily operations of that office, Remy will provide administrative oversight for assigned Olympic sport programs while also serving as the primary point of contact for the Director of Athletics for internal and external communications involving the AD’s office.

“With immense pride and gratitude, I am honored that President Brad Smith, AD Gerald Harrison and Marshall University have entrusted me with this incredible opportunity,” Remy said. “Marshall’s history means something special to so many people. Its long-standing resilience, tradition and deep commitment to its community are qualities that fuel my passion to serve, contribute and run alongside this incredible institution.

“I’m excited to embrace new challenges, support the Herd mentality and immerse myself in this community as we continue building on that deep-rooted passion and legacy. We Are!”

Remy served on Harrison’s previous staff at Austin Peay from Aug. 2021 to Aug. 2025 in various roles.

Remy was the Director of Community Relations and Administrative Operations from June 2023-June 2025 and served as External Operations Assistant from Aug. 2021 to June 2023, giving him a well-rounded knowledge base within intercollegiate athletics.

Prior to his time on the administrative side of athletics, Remy served as a graduate assistant for Austin Peay baseball from July 2020 to Aug. 2021 while finishing up his Master’s Degree in Business Management.

Remy’s position on the Austin Peay baseball staff came after he completed a successful career with the Governors from 2015-19 – one in which he was a four-time recipient of the Ohio Valley Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll and also an OVC Medal of Honor recipient for a 4.0 GPA.

A native of Reedsville, Pa., Remy graduated from Austin Peay with a B.S. in Health and Human Performance in 2019 before completing his aforementioned Master’s degree in 2021.
