Golf's Burke Spensky Finishes Strong at the Wolverine Invitational

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Marshall University?s Burke Spensky recovered from a slow start in the first round of the Wolverine Invitational by recording a second round low score of 68 to move from 45th into a tie for ninth place in the event.
Spensky, a junior from Huntington, W.Va., shot a disappointing 76 Friday only to rebound by matching tournament individual champion Ryan Bacca of Baylor and seventh place finisher Will Doughtie of Baylor in the second round Sunday with a 68. Ball State?s Mike Gant tied Baca only to finish second, due to a scorecard playoff;
Despite, Spensky?s strong play Marshall concluded the tournament tied for 17th out of 20 with a score 607. Baylor won the tournament with a 574, followed by Minnesota at 579, Indiana at 586, Michigan State at 597, and Northwestern at 591.
The Thundering Herd will next compete in the University of Rhode Island?s Adams Cup Tuesday and Wednesday in Kingston, R.I.
