Minutoli, Woodburn Pace Herd On Day Two Of 2026 Sun Belt Championship

Freshmen lead surge as Marshall improves from Day 1 totals

MADISON, Miss. – Marshall freshman Jack Minutoli fired a 2-under 70 and redshirt freshman Jackson Woodburn rallied to shoot Even-par 72 on Day Two of the 2026 Sun Belt Conference Men's Golf Championship at Annandale Golf Club in Madison, Miss.
Playing in only his second round on Annandale, Minutoli corrected mistakes after a day one struggle and used some clutch shots to tie for 10th among day two competitors with his 2-under round.
Minutoli got into a good rhythm early, sinking birdies in two of his first five holes on the day – the par-5, 11th hole and the par-4, 14th hole – to set the tone for his day's best shot.
On the par-5 18th hole, Minutoli went for the green and came up just short, but the ball settled on the hill just above the water. Minutoli took advantage of the fortuitous lie and chipped in for eagle – one of only four eagles on the day in the field.
He then maintained the momentum, going Even on his final nine, including a birdie at No. 4, to finish at 2-under.
In his first tournament action on the course, Woodburn was equally as impressive, carding an Even-par 72 that featured him overcoming a double-bogey on his second hole of play to finish with the Herd's second-best round on Tuesday.
Like Minutoli, Woodburn also got things going on the 18th hole. He went for the green on his second shot and ended up in the bunker in behind the hole, but he used a great sand shot to within four feet before making the putt to make the turn with momentum.
From there, Woodburn was electric with birdies at Nos. 2, 6 and 9 to close out a banner day in his first Sun Belt Championship action.
It was all a part of a day when the Herd improved their scoring by 23 strokes as a whole – the most of any team in the field.
The final round of Stroke Play gets underway on Wednesday morning and the Herd will be in the final twosome of the tees off No. 10, starting at 10:30 a.m.
